Boyfriends From Hell: Mark Sotka killed girlfriend, Angel Ormston, because she refused to get an abortion

Angel Ormston

Mark Stoka pled guilty and was sentenced to life in prison, with no chance of parole for at least 30 years. His first parole hearing will be August 2013. Please remember, that is a hearing and there is no guarantee of parole. Below is a sample letter you can use to send to the parole board. You can email it, fax it or send it by mail.

**Update 12/02/2013** Mark Sotka was denied parole. He got a rehearing date of July 2023, 10 years. I moved the parole letter info to the bottom of the page, so that it will be here in 2023 when it is needed again. I am sure this is a relief to Angel’s loved ones.

Re: Parole Hearing Planned for Mark Sotka, Inmate # A271852

Please DO NOT grant parole to Mark Sotka, Inmate # A271852. As a concerned citizen, I am writing to protest the projected parole of this convicted murderer.

On July 31, 192, Mark Sotka brutally murdered Angel Ormston after finding out that she was pregnant and refused to get an abortion, and then hid her body for an agonizing 4 months before going to have pizza with friends. While the city, state and nation looked for Angel, Mark went on with his life as if it had never happened. Angel’s badly decomposed body was found on December 15, 1992 lying face down in a water filled ditch. On December 31, 1992, Mark was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of Angel Ormston. He later signed a detailed statement admitting that he punched Angel in the face and stabbed her twice near her heart.

The loss of Angel devastated her family, friends and neighbors. The community lost an amazing young woman, who was an Angel on earth before being taken by the hands of a thoughtless and calculating killer.

In order to avoid the death penalty Mark pled guilty and was sentenced in February 1993.

The heinous nature of the murder of Angel Ormston, the multiple crimes committed and the age & innocence of the victim should preclude any consideration of parole for Mark Sotka. His actions have shown that he is extremely volatile and that he has no regard for human life. For this heinous crime, Mark Sotka was sentenced to life in prison but he sentenced the Ormston family and friends to a lifetime of grief and sorrow.

In the interests of justice, public safety, and to lessen the emotional trauma for the victim’s family, please consider giving Mark Sotka a three year set off before any future parole reviews.

Thank you for your consideration,

  1. I know this azzhole knows how babies are made, its not just up a woman to protect themselves. Maybe if he kept his dick in a condom or in his pants, he wouldnt be in this situation. Thoughts n prayers to HER family.

  2. Let’s hope he’s enjoying being someone’s girlfriend. He probably could care less about how babies are made. Glad he’s locked up. Hope he stays locked up. Thank God her family found out what happened to her.

  3. He needs to stay in jail since he loses control so easily. After he hit her he could of stopped but no he went to the garage to get a knife and kill her then discard her body and meet friends for pizza. Not to mention he has absolutely no remorse which was evident by him passing a poly. This guy is extremely dangerous. In many states he would have gotten life WITHOUT the possibility of parole. He ruined his chance of any future when he permanently took away Angel’s.

  4. i think two in the back of the head would have been the best punishment for this bright chap.

  5. People like that just make me ill!

  6. If the sentence is life with no parole for 30 years why does he get a parole hearing in 2013? That’s 20 years.

    • It is just a parole hearing. It does not even mean that he will get a parole date. Many states give inmates a parole hearing long before they are eligible for parole. Usually they just get a rehearing date. It is a strange thing and I don’t know why they do it. I don’t expect him to get out before 30 years. If so, there is something very wrong.

    • I agree its as if they think people can’t add or something?

    • be cause of good behavior and prisons lower standards when overcrowded.its bullshit i know, but the killers have rights that they don’t deserve.give me a pair of plyers and put me in a room alone with him,

    • They have an old law there that grants you a parole hearing after serving 2/3 of your sentence that is why he got it, they need to amend that law now. Murders deserve life w/o parole period as long as its 1,2,3, aggravated, capital murder, depending on your state and what they call it, many states have life means life and murderers should get life…or death row.
If he did this in my state aggravated murder means life.
The point it is time murderers now a days are getting off with lighter sentences when victims can’t get there life back, are justice system needs work and it needs it now. I hope and pray this prisoner never gets out.

  7. I saw the story on a rerun tonight…..what a horrible crime. How is life in prison justice for Angel and her family? If this pathetic piece of infected cat squeeze committed this crime in Alabama or Texas, he would have already been executed.

  8. You know, I used to think putting these type people to death was the best thing. But, now I think that I’d rather have them sitting there day after day, month after month, year after year knowing that they probably will die there. And hopefully while they are there, the inmate population will make their life a total horrific hell! If they are put to death, then it’s over – that just seems too easy! Let him get raped and beat up and told when to wipe his butt for the rest of his life. Some things are worse than death!

    • Wrong….the best outcome for offenders is always death row. First of all you won’t even be thought of for a date with death for 15 to 20 years down the line…maybe. I think the better punishment, by far, is having to spend those 15-20 years worrying about your execution date instead of making a cozy new little life for yourself in prison. Secondly, death row criminals have much worse conditions than normal LWOP prisoners. 23 hours by yourself every day in a death row cell (which is smaller than normal cells from what i hear) worrying about hearing when your execution date will be can’t be a picnic. The important thing is that it’s far more abhorrent a life than a life sentence. More people need to realize this. Especially the ones that think spending your life in prison is worse than a death sentence.

  9. I remeber this case very well. So very sad. We all prayed for Angel and he familly then and I will continue to pray for them now.

  10. Men! this is cruel and inhuman. Thank God he is going to be kept away from people.

  11. In a country were a mother could kill her own little daughter and a football player could kill his ex-wife and get away with it, I will not be surprised that this horrible man could walk and be paroled at any point & time. I think that punished should be accordingly to the crime. We, tax payers keep all these criminals in jail, give them education, medical treatments, etc. They should be killed the same way or similar to their crimes….an eye for eye…..

  12. I am so tired of these so called men killing wives and girlfriends because they are pregnant. If you can kill your unborn child and the mother, there is no place whatsoever for these creeps in our society. He wanted to protect his future now he doesn’t have one. I do hope he never sees the light of day. I hope he suffers greatly in prison and when he leaves this world, he will have to answer again. Keep him locked up.

  13. look at scott peterson another waste of tax payers money..kill him !!look at casey anthony she got away with murder.. threw her daughter away like a piece of trash. these people are shit to the for angel..her parents should have beem more controlling and had more communication with her, if she could have talked to he parents she might be here to day…………

  14. I graduated from Mentor High in 1992 with Mark, so I knew him fairly well. His sentence was 20 years to life, so there’s a definite possibility that he’ll get out in July, although I hope that doesn’t happen. He could have accomplished so many things in the past 20 years, but has done nothing but rot in prison.

  15. Join the cause…sign the petition in honor of Angel.
