  1. Was the second trial ever held? Is Nancy Seaman still in prison?

  2. She is not waiting for a retrial. A higher court reversed the judge’s order for a retrial.
    From Wickipedia:
Five years after her conviction, Nancy Seaman’s conviction was overturned by United States federal judge Bernard A. Friedman on November 4, 2010 on the basis that her defense attorney were not fully able to develop their theory of battered woman syndrome.[2] However, on January 19, 2011, another federal judge ordered a stay of proceedings in her appeal.[4] She is currently serving her life sentence at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility.[5]

    • Thanks Sally! I did miss that. I appreciate you letting us know.

      • If you read the information again, it says another judge granted a stay of proceedings. All that means is that they cannot go forth with a new trial because the ruling for a new trial is being appealed. If the appeal is lost, she could still have a new trial.

  3. I’m glad Nancy Seaman is not getting a new trial and will spend the rest of her life in prison. It is clear from the evidence that this woman murdered her husband out of pure RAGE. How dare he divorce her and want half of her condo. Bob Seaman’s death was clearly overkill and not self defense. Nancy’s bruises and cuts came from stabbing and bludgeoning her husband to death. He was clearly ambushed and not attacking her. I am sick of these women who kill their husband and then cry that they are a battered wife with no evidence to prove it. I saw the trial and her older son who said there was no abuse came across more believable than the younger son who had been coddled by his mother and didn’t want to lose her.

    • Hi Sally M… Your comment is right on! Nancy had every chance to get out of her marriage if she was being so abused. She had a good job and grown children. Her crime was without a doubt, pre-meditaed first degree murder and she is right where she should be. She stayed in the marriage out of pure greed and then ambushed her husband. I am sure he wasn’t perfect, but by no means did he deserve to die, and in such a horrible way! I hope she rots in jail for the rest of her life!

    • I agree with “Sally M”. and “Ang” 100%. Nancy Seaman even looks like an evil witch…which she is!!! It was not self defense. It was extreme overkill and definitely pre-meditated. She had other options. She deserves whatever she gets!!!

      • I agree that she is an evil BITCH. The judge at the trial just before sentencing made me fall off my chair when he said “I can not see you going to Home Depot to buy a hatchet to kill your husband” Was he sleeping in court when they showed her at HOME DEPOT stealing a matching hatchet … then returning it with the original receipt she got when bought the first one? I think the older son was telling the truth and that same idiotic judge say he thought he LIED on the stand, but thought the younger baby faced one was truthful. I think Nancy is a monster and killed him out of spite….she planned it since she had to drive to buy the hatchet in a blinding rain storm! How plain can it be when she was on the stand…evil flowed out of every word she said….thank God the jury saw through the smoke and mirrors she and her defense used…………………………JMHO….(*.*)

        • Justice was done and she was a pauper when she met her husband who worked hard to get the family to a wealthy status. She could have agreed to a divorce and still have a comfortable life many of us craved for. However, Pure Rage took over and she is getting justice in correction centre and I hope everyday she sleeps she sees her husband in her dreams haunting her. A very nasty piece of work and the overkill was quite gruesome and she just went to teach as if it was just another routine day.

  5. I personally can believe that she killed him out of rage, but their marriage obviously was one of abuse and unhappiness. I personally believe she was a battered woman and just got sick of dealing with it, mad that he wanted half the condo and just snapped and went crazy. I just don’t buy the self-defense claim. But, I do believe she was abused. How can you fake a BUNCH of bruises and stuff? Now, with the sons both telling stories that are on the opposite ends of the spectrum, one has either got to be lying or they both actually witnessed different things. Maybe one son witnessed the abuse, and the other just wasn’t around to see it? Because it’s obvious the older son is a daddy’s boy, so maybe Bob didn’t want him to see him acting that way, painting the picture of a perfect dad? I don’t know, but either way…I am glad she’s in prison, even though I do think she was an abused woman, but she snapped and was like “I’ve got to do something about him. I can’t take it anymore”, and committed an irrational crime.

    • “How can you fake a BUNCH of bruises and stuff? ”

It’s pretty easy to fake actually. You simply slam the door against yourself enough times. Kids do it all the time when they want attention.

  6. I believe her story. Would buying a hatchet be the first thing you’d go to buy to kill someone? Especially if you wanted to leave no trail? There’s no way it was premeditated. & if it indeed was, then that’d be really horrible planning.

    • Thats just what it was horrible planning….don’t think she planned to kill him….it’s what happened after…when she was trying to fix it…..
