Moscow, ID church shootings 5/19/207 *3 people now reportedly dead*

swat-team.jpgIn the small town of Moscow, ID, a town of only about 20,000, a man opened fire, shooting at anyone or anything around 11pm Saturday night. He fired over 75 shots although, shooting into the Latah County courthouse and then inside First Presbyterian Church, where 2 bodies where found, possibly including the gunman. Also, there are 1 or 2 wounded persons. This morning, a police officer involved in the incident died, bringing the total who have died to 3. So far, none of the identities of the dead have been released. There is a caretaker that lives in the church, but it has not been said if he was one of the victims yet. According to police, the gunman was shooting into the Courthouse (which I think also houses the police station – from what I just heard on the news) to lure people into the streets. So far, no motive is known.

  1. He shot up the sheriff dispatch station first starting at 11:00. No one was shot there. Then ran toward church. Per eyewitnesses to shooting: First officer draws gun on him in middle of street, is shot. Second officer goes to aid first officer and draws, is shot. Man comes out of house because he heard gunshots, and is shot.

Last shot fired at approximately 1:00, a single shot.

This never was a “sniper” story, as was first reported. The police provided incorrect information (“There is sniper activity in the vicinity of 5th and Adams,” that incident being the shot officers, on KRFP 92.5.”). Possibly because perp ran to church which has a tall spire. But perp carried a high-power semi-auto and a semi pistol, no sniper equipment. On the whole instructions to stay indoors away from windows and turn lights off was reasonable at the time. God bless the Moscow police department, which just lost its first officer in the line of duty.

  2. would like to know more about this case
