Please remember when leaving a comment on my blog that all comments are subject to the blog owners discretion. I do believe in freedom of speech, however, that right is not absolute. Here are the rules: 1 - Please remember the victim(s) first and foremost. Do not come here to comment only on the offender(s). My blog focuses on the victim(s). Do not glorify the killer(s). No negative comments about the victim. NO VICTIM BLAMING. 2 - I will not tolerate hate filled speech, vulgar or derogatory remarks about a victim. I will remove comments that go against this. I will not remove comments just because they do not match my beliefs, in fact, I welcome them! However, that being said, I will remove those that I find offensive, argumentative just for the sake of starting an argument that does not add to the post, hate-filled speech, etc. 3-No comments in ALL CAPS, or CoMeNtS. They are rude and difficult to read. I have had many complaints about it so no more. 4 - ALL COMMENTS LEFT BY COMMENTORS ARE THEIR OWN AND THEIR OPINIONS. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE FACTS. NOR IS THE BLOG OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYONE'S OPINIONS OR FEELINGS. STATEMENTS MADE AS COMMENTS ARE OPINIONS, GIVEN FREELY BY THE COMMENTORS. If you have a question or problem with this, please feel free to email me (there is a link to my email above).

I will also post about any memorials I can find. Each and every victim needs to be remembered. Please feel free to post comments about your friends or loved ones in this tragedy.  All I ask is nothing negative.  About any victim.

Please do not post about Chao Seung-Hui here. This is for the victims.

  1. We need to take time to love on those that are not at the top of the social chain. We may never truly know the motive behind such horrific actions that the killer uses to justify his or her means. However, when the downtrodden and socially uncool are accepted I believe a major motive is removed.

  3. i am sick of this..am i the ONLY ONE who notices that each and every time the teenager is on psyche drugs??? hello..these drugs make folks whako!!!! we are becoming a nation of psyche drug addicts..i feel so alone in my thoughts on this..as if i am the only one who gets it!! docs used to push speed for weight loss and valium for stress..now we look down on that …in the future we will look down on all the psyche drugs we dish out..especially to kids..it is making our teens nutz!!!

  4. My heart is torn over the loss of every precious life lost this week at Virginia Tech. Such precious life….precious to God…precious to family…precious to all of us.

What can anyone possibly say to bring hope or healing or comfort in this most evil event? I have no words.
Only God can rescue us in our grief…..from our grief.
Only God knows how deep the pain and loss we feel.
Only God can speak words of hope and healing for eternity.

So what does our God say at a time like this?

I opened my Bible this morning and here is what God said to me from Matthew 5: 21 and 22:
    (The Message….by Eugene Peterson)

“You’re familiar with the command to the ancients, ‘Do not murder.’ I’m telling you that anyone who is so much as angry with a brother or sister is guilty of murder. Carelessly call a brother ‘idiot!’ and you just might find
yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell ‘stupid’ at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill.”

God spoke to me today. He said to me:
“Bill, words matter. Words can hurt or heal. Words can bring death or life. What is in your heart proceeds from your mouth, so guard your heart. Guard your heart every moment of everyday.”

“Bill, live by the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22 and 23)
Love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

“Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.”
    (Galatians 5: 16 and 24)

That’s what God said to me this morning…..Wednesday,
    April 18, 2007.

I pray somehow these words from God bring hope and healing to you.

    Sincerely with God’s love,

    Bill Gassett
    Huron, Ohio

  5. it is really necessary to focus on the fact that the killer was South Korean? Shouldn’t we really focus on Gun Control, ignoring kids that are “weird” or “Anti-Social”? Where was Timothy McVay from or the columbine killers? Let’s stop looking for ways to point at immigrants, aliens, or any nationality that has built the United States of America. Who BTW work for minimum wage, what we “Real Americans” would never do! only mother nature and god are the Real Americans not you or I. so let’s fix the problem that is really causing kids to kill. Starting with our Government and it’s selfish, political reasons to veto and vote bills that will and is hurting our country, future and our kids!

  6. Interesting that no one with a sense of belonging seems to commit these acts.

  7. Please remember, this post is supposed to be about the individual victims, not necessary the entire situation and NOT about Cho. I have several other posts about this and those kinds of comments would be better there.

  8. I agree with BettyBattly – we need to get away from the shooter’s heritage because one of his victims, Mary Karen Read, is also Korean.

Jeremy Herbstittle, Bellefonte H.S. (PA, class of 1998) and Penn State University. r.i.p.

  9. Correction on spelling: it is Herbstritt.

Also, condolences to friends, family and fellow cadets of Matt La Porte, graduate of the Carson Long Military Institute in New Bloomfield, Perry County, PA.

  10. keep america free from psych drugs and you will have a better country in the future.

It is the common denominator in all similar cases in the US and other countries.

  11. I’m so glad you’ve made this just for the victims. It’s so important to remember them and not the evil that shortened their lives.
