No negative comments about the victim. NO VICTIM BLAMING. 2 - I will not tolerate hate filled speech, vulgar or derogatory remarks about a victim. I will remove comments that go against this. I will not remove comments just because they do not match my beliefs, in fact, I welcome them! However, that being said, I will remove those that I find offensive, argumentative just for the sake of starting an argument that does not add to the post, hate-filled speech, etc. 3-No comments in ALL CAPS, or CoMeNtS. Susan L. Kapanek-Domblewski murder 1/23/1994 Buffalo, NY *Husband, Darrell Domblewski, convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison*

dv awareness
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

A Hazelwood Avenue woman was killed and her estranged husband was being sought as a suspect today, police said. The man took the couple’s infant son after the killing and left the baby unharmed at a relative’s home Sunday night, authorities said.Susan L. Kapanek-Domblewski, 32, of 23 Hazelwood died after her throat was slashed. Police are seeking Darrell Domblewski, 30. An Erie County Court jury Thursday heard a recording of a 911 call in which Susan L. Kapanek-Domblewski screamed her estranged husband’s name as he allegedly slit her throat with a knife last January. After the chilling 911 call was played, the prosecution at Darrell Domblewski’s two-day-old murder trial rested its case after calling 12 witnesses, including the victim’s best friend and neighbor

A jury of 10 men and two women took just 25 minutes today to decide that Darrell Domblewski was guilty of the most serious murder charges against him, rejecting his claims that he was emotionally out of control last January when he broke down a door and cut his wife’s throat as she tried to telephone for help. The jury last week listened to a 911 call in which Susan Kapanek-Domblewski could be heard saying, “Darrell . . . no, no. Oh, my God!”

“Two minutes of rage,” a judge said today, will cost Darrell Domblewski 25 years in prison for killing his estranged wife.Erie County Judge Michael L. D’Amico also barred Domblewski, who still is involved in a custody battle with his former in-laws over his 23-month-old son, D.J., from further attempts to contact the victim’s family.

I have had a couple of requests to remove this post. I will not be removing it. If you are worried about DJ finding out this way, that is not my fault. His family has an obligation to tell him. And I am so offended when I am told how bad it is to find out your father is a murderer. But the main point of this is totally forgotten. It was his wife, DJ’s mother who was killed. She is who matters here. And another point of this was that it was posted during October, which is dedicated nationally to Domestic Violence Awareness. Please think of that. All victims need to be remembered. DJ is not only Darrell’s son, but Susan’s as well. She needs to be remembered, always. My position on this will not change. I am the daughter of a murder victim.

  1. I think this does need to be posted online.
DJs mom was my friend for 25 years and she did everything “right”, by the book through the legal system for leaving an abusive husband and it still cost her life.

Her parents have saved everything concerning the trial for DJ when he is older and can understand it possibly.

I dont believe they ever tried to hide it from him. My God he was in the room when she died and his dad took him leaving a blood trail in the snow. People didnt know where he was or if the baby was safe initially.

I believe both families were so harmed that day and suffered a great loss.

It is a shame what drug use does to people. Her concerns were for her safety and for her son who was just about 11 months old when this happened.

I still have nightmares hearing hearing that recording of her pleading with him on the 911 tape and the baby’s cries.

  2. I will not be removing this post. Period. Removing it will only stand as another reminder that people try to hide domestic violence and what it does. And to not let this child know what his father did is offensive, especially for the mother who tried so hard to get away from it. Instead, the family is trying to forget the murder and give him that excuse he needs to go on with his life as if he did not commit a murder. It was not a “mistake” – it was MURDER. Susan is the one who should be remembered, not the murderer and his feelings or reputation. He should have to remember this every single day for the rest of his life. He also should be apologizing to his son and family everyday for the rest of his life. Not hiding behind it.
