Here is a link to a commentary on this case and the apparent media blackout on this heinous crime. It is a very interesting read and I think many of you will agree with him. Here is an excerpt:

This appalling attack is more than a case study in sociopathic evil. It is also a case study in journalistic malpractice. Unless you tune in to the local Knoxville news, you are most likely hearing about this heinous crime for the first time — even though it took place last January. True, there are some 17,000 murders committed in the U.S. each year, but this double murder was clearly far more barbaric, far more monstrous than most.I spent six years in law enforcement and have seen my share of war-ravaged third-world nations, but the deliberate and abject inhumanity of this case, and what it says about our culture, certainly got my attention. Yet, this story has failed to attract the attention of the national media. Could it be because the two victims were white and the five defendants are black?

Not much new to update really. No new news lately, since Vanessa Coleman was extradicted. Hopefully there will be some court dates listed soon. There should be a preliminary hearing soon, too. I am interested to see that.

I found some articles about the lack of media coverage on this case. People are talking about it on message boards and a few blogs, but not enough. There is not enough outrage over this crime and it is one of the worst crimes I have ever heard of. Of course, Jesse Jackson and Reverand Al Sharpton will not be weighing in on this, as it does not go along with their agenda. I believe they both supported Crystal Gail Mangum, who lied and falsely accused 3 young men of rape. I have yet to heard either Jesse or Al make a new statement on this case since the charges were dropped. Now, if Channon or Chris were black and the suspects were white, I am sure we could not shut them up about the injustices in this case.

I hope that soon there will be more exposure to this case. Everyone should be outraged and let the world know!

Update: Vanessa is still being held in a KY jail, waiting for the Governor’s warrant to be served. It appears that she will be back in court when it arrives.
