These gangsters are dedicated to their criminal enterprises. It’s hard for an ordinary person to understand them, but they can’t see it any other way. If you saw the picture “Goodfellas”, you remember Henry Hill saying they couldn’t understand people going to work every day and barely earning a living. Now, Mr. Savage can spend the rest of his life telling his stories to his fellow inmates.

This is very true. I have uncles that went through this. To us, they seemed so “normal”, but we had no idea how they lived or anything like that.
