Such a tragedy. My deepest sympathies to the surviving family members. Though the surviving boys may of been in shock, they managed to make it to school and I can’t help but wonder why the 9yo didn’t call 911 after it was clear the murderer had left the scene. To think of them sleeping there, getting dressed for school the next morning with their mother and sister’s bloody corpses and while the father was still alive is so sad. I hope all parents impart to their kids the importance of calling 911,
no one said he got dressed and went to school, this boy was in a state if shock, remember hes 9 yrs old!! from what Ive heard he climmed out of his window and ran to school, my guess he felt threaten to stay inside his house with dead mother and sister.:(
Also, the other child was too young for school and was in the house when police got there. I could be wrong, but I think he was 4.
I read alot of messed up things on here but this one really bothered me. Just thinking of what this poor family went through. And the son going to school knowing his mom n sister are dead? I hope he gets death. I know thats not nice but what he did to that family wasnt either.
This murder was vicious. For a human to have so much hate for another human and a child, to Rape a child and mother, brutally killing them. To have the father and son survive, having to live with the memory of their loved ones rape and murdered…
Why was this not publicized as a HATE Crime?
Is it because the victims were not black and the criminal is black?
This is a real hate crime.
I’m comparing this crime to the case of Trey vonmartin.
The witch hunt by the African American community and media was out of control on that case but here we have an african american rapist and murderer and the black and white community does nothing. The media does nothing.
The Trey Von martin case should Not be about race but it’s been exploited to be about race, a hate crime by the media and african american community. In reality, It should be seen as two males, no color. but for some reason it was exploited as a race issue.
Why are the media and all nationalities in our communities so selective when creating race wars?
The murder and rape of Yadira and Karla Martinez was a hate crime, murder.
Where is the African American community and medias voice on this murder?
Why is this murder not considered a hate crime?
Joan,
You said that it is a hate crime, but I have not seen anything about that. Remember for it to be a hate crime, it has to come from motive, not just because the victims were not the same race as the killer. I have seen a lot of “hate crimes” (Which I hate this distinction because it makes it appear that some victims are more important than other victims. ALL murders are hate crimes, in my opinion).
So, please remember, it is the intent in the crime that determines a hate crime. Have you heard anything about Bryan Clay being a racist or wanting to kill people because they were Hispanic?
I say hate crime in comparrison to the trey Von Martin case which was ‘labeled’ a hate crime. the publicity was blown way out of poportion. Why?
Perhaps that case is not a hate crime but now that the African American community and media exploited it over a race issue the defendant has no chance. No one will know what the truth is for sure because the media and other groups convicted the defendant on racism through the media.
Just because an individual doesn’t say out loud he hates something doesn’t mean they don’t hate!
Bryan Clay caused a crime against a woman and her little girl, to me that is a hate crime against women . He assulted females, young and old but left the boys alone. He also assulted another woman 50 years old.
(As for the father he must have felt he had to eliminate him first in order to attack the females .)
My point is, where is the media and other ethnic groups for this case?
This is clearly a hate crime against females but because the individual is of color, it’s not mentioned. That is racist. The Von Martin case is questionable
I don’t care for the way the media and some groups of people can get away with exploiting a person because of race and not report the absolute truth.
The media is part of the problem and should be accountable.
Racism, hate crimes exsist within all communities all nationalities and it’s the media that choses what should be exploited. The media should not have the right.
It makes me sick that a man murdered and raped an innocent girl and sexually assulted an old woman and murdered a mother. It says hate crime more so than the von Martin case. And that is all I was implying.
I do agree that this case is by far more heinous in nature. But remember, there are thousands of cases that can be claimed to be hate crimes that are not listed as such. One is Missi McLaughlin in SC. In my opinion, it is in many ways more heinous that this one. The Carr Brothers murders are the same. These are examples of why I do not scream about hate crimes.
In my opinion, race should not matter at all, unless it is the reason that the crime was committed. What you are saying is that one race is more important than another, which is racist. Example, my mother was murdered, as was my sister-in-law. Both were white. They are just as important as victims as the victims of Bryan Clay, but calling these hate crimes says these victims are more important. That is just plain wrong.
Any crime that involves sex crimes & women always involve hate against women. I do understand what you are saying and your outrage over the heinousness of this crime. For some reason, I can’t find the words to express what I mean. One thing, your definition of hate crime is not part of the law. That is why it can’t be state as such. You may want to start a movement to have that added.
I never suggested that one race is more important than another .
We are all created equal.
That’s sad to hear about your mom and sister in law.
All I’m saying is, If the victims were black and the murderer white, this would make USA headlines. Black activist groups would be freaking out. But that’s not going to happen because the criminal is black. The victims Hispanic.
And I was composing it to the trevonmartin exploitation.
When I was 14 I fell asleep watching TV at the neighbors house. I was woken up by their friend on top of me covering my mouth, he had a knife and he was laughing. I bit him and scratched him, I still remember the smell of his dark bloody skin under my nails, I was able to run away and He went to jail.
I feel so sorry for the Martinez family.
