Today it was said that the reason for the abrupt halt to court proceedings on Sat. morning was because the defense insisted on a competency hearing for Casey. They said she was unable to assist with her defense. However, experts evaluated her over the weekend and she was deemed competent to stand trial. Testimony started with Yuri Melich again to talk about phone records and cadaver dogs. After 2 witnesses testified about a drawing of the forensic bay where Casey’s car was being examined. Jason Forgey returned to the stand. His cadaver dog is the one that alerted to decomposition in Casey’s car. He was questioned more about the cadaver dogs. Dr. Kenneth Furton testified about decomposition and said that there is no known instrument that can accurately identify decomposition (personally, from what I have heard, the smell is a good indication). Sgt. John Allen, James Hoover and Dominic Casey all testified about video tapes that were made of Dominic Casey in the woods “looking for Caylee”. It appears to me that these tapes were made to be “sold to the highest bidder” Very sleazy indeed, especially when we are talking about the fact that the victim is a 2 year old child.
