Today, the medical examiner testified about manner & cause of death. Manner of death was determined to be homicide and unfortunately, she could not pin down specifically what caused Caylee’s death, so it is listed as Homicide of undetermined means. She said there were 3 red flags which indicate manner of death as homicide:

not reporting Caylee’s disappearance for 31 days
body of child put in plastic bag and hidden
duct tape on skill

The jury then also watched a video that superimposed the skull over a picture of Caylee’s face to show that the placement of the duct tape could have covered both her nose and mouth, and thus been the murder weapon. The defense fought vigorously to not have the tape allowed in, but Judge Perry said that the tape was relevant and would be allowed in. Casey put on a good show of crying quite a bit today too, but she did watch the video without showing emotion. She did break down when testimony talked about Caylee’s bones being gnawed on by animals. Although some of this testimony about the forensics and bones seems tedious to some, it is a necessary part of a murder trial. I do enjoy the science part of this and even the new technology used in these cases now. Apparently the video shown was “shocking” but the TV or online viewers were not able to see the video. I would have liked to see it myself.

However, what I find curious is the media’s attention to the clothes Casey is wearing. She is wearing well, regular clothes. Nothing fancey. Not Prada or Gucci. Just plian clothes, which I’m sure her attorneys have advised her to do. I have to say she looks ok in court everyday. Nothing to make such a big deal out of.
