Good that this guy has been convicted and sentenced for his crime…..but, unfortunately he has already invaded the home of this family and the horrendous murders can’t be reversed by his conviction and sentence. I wish it could reverse what has already been done…believe me, but what’s done is done, sadly.
It is so important to be proactive and preventative when it come to crime, any crime…and certainly to possible home invasions. Don’t want to own and have a firearm in the home? Fine…you don’t have to in order to protect yourself. But you can and do need non-lethal forms of self defense and warning systems/alarms that will give you the heads up and protection that can tip the odds in your favor!
Just think if this family had at their home….infrared detectors that would send a message to a base unit(s) inside their home, warning them that someone was on their property….be it on the patio, backyard, driveway, wherever, they would have known quickly. That may have been just enough time they needed to not only call the police….but also arm themselves with non-lethal weapons such as tasers, pepper spray, something!
And at the same time they could have had outside surveillance cameras to see where this guy was wherever he moved on the property (day or night). Also, beef up doors with improved locks and lock plates..but also doorstops to deter the guy from just kicking in and getting in the door very quickly…patio door and window alarms to not only warn..but also possibly scare the guy away with all the VERY LOUD noise going off….and outside motion detectors around the property that would give off a very loud decibel sound to maybe scare the guy off.
There are a lot of devices you can use in conjunction with each other, collectively that can help you protect yourself while the police can hopefully get to your house in only a few minutes. It’s better than nothing, and it’s taking action if you absolutely don’t want to have a firearm.

He has not been sentenced yet. They will be starting the sentencing phase next week I believe.
