Update: Christine McGee murder *Husband Jeffrey McGee convicted*

He will be sentenced March 30, 2010 and will receive a mandatory life in prison sentence. And I hope it is without the possibility of parole, just for what he did to his son, who was only 3 years old at the time. Jeffrey McGee strangled and stabbed to death his estranged wife in front of their son, due to jealousy and anger. He believed they were reconciling, but she had not planned to. I do understand being hurt by this, however, if he really loved his son, he would have taken a step back and thought about what he was doing. Now, he has ruined several lives and that can’t be taken back. And then he forced his son to have to relive it by having to testify in court about watching his mother being stabbed to death. In my opinion, this shows that he does not care about the well being of his son, only his own life matters to him. He should have known that this would backfire. Gavin is only 6 years old now, and it would break anyone’s heart watching him relive this. My heart really goes out to him and I hope he will find peace and happiness in his life.

  1. You’re going on what you heard, you didnt know her, so please don’t say what she was or was not planning to do. She wouldn’t have called her mother and asked her if he could come to dinner if she wasn’t planning on working things out with him. I have known her my whole life

    • Amy,

I apologize for that. I did not mean to say something untrue. I just kept reading so many negative things about her and people implying this was her own fault, when it was not. I hope you understand what I was trying to convey.

  2. First of all, it was the prosecuter and not Jeff who required Gaving to testify. The prosecution used the jury’s sympathy for the little boy to win the case. The jury may not have been so sympathetic if they heard only how Christine systematically drove her husband over the edge. It was a trick of misdirection by the prosecution and it worked. They put the focus on the sadness of the little boy and not the dangerous games his mother was playing or the heroin addicts and crack addicts who were her friends. If you read all the testimony you will see that Jeff told rescue workers to get Gavin to safety. I know Jeff and I know he loves his son. As far as Gavin’s testimony–don’t forget that he has been coached by Christines’s parents, with whom he lives, for 2 years. Consider both sides of the story and not just the one that sells more newspapers.

    • EVD,

Regardless of anything you said, Christine DID NOT deserve to be murdered. Period. And remember, Jeff did this heinous crime right in front of Gavin.

And please understand, if you cannot come here to remember the life of the victim, Christine, with some empathy and compassion for her loved ones, including Gavin, then you are in the wrong place.

  3. What a sad, sad situation for ALL involved. It could have ended in a much, much better way than this.

Many different scenarios could have taken place instead of a woman murdered, a child traumatized and a man put in prison.
