I am looking for the basis of these movies based on true crimes:
Moment of Truth: Abduction of Innocence
With a Vengeance
The Toolbox Murders (1978)
5 Dark Souls
Final Appeal
If Someone Had Known – found (Cynthia & James Hutto)
Obsessed (2002) – found [Diane Schaefer]
In the Shadow of a Killer
In My Daughter’s Name
Night of Evil found [Dixie Ann Gottfried] thanks!
Two Faces of Evil
Last House on the Left
A Kiss So Deadly
If you can help me, please email me! Thanks! Also, if you know of any other true crime movies that are not on this list and that I have not covered, give me a holler! I know I am missing a lot! (But not the very popular ones that Lifetime shows a lot – I know of those and am working on them).

Could this be
Final Appeal:
Anatomy of a Frame?
Wilbert Colin Thatcher (born 25 August 1938 in Toronto) was a Canadian politician convicted for the murder of his ex-wife, JoAnn Wilson. Thatcher has always insisted he is innocent. His father was premier of Saskatchewan from 1964 to 1971

Pam,
I don’t think that is the basis, but not positive. There was a movie made on the Thatcher murder:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097788/
I remember the movie, but have not seen it in years.

Shannon,
The movies I specifically asked about do not have their true stories listed at IMDb.com. I check there often. I link there often as well.s for the ones you mentioned, I have covered some of them. The shark one does not fit my blog. I have covered:
An American Crime (Sylvia Likens)
Helter Skelter (Tate/LaBianca murders)
The Strangers (Keddie Murders)
Most of the others will be covered soon. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am looking for the stories BEHIND the movie. Example: Desperate for Love At the IMDb, it just has a description of the movie, but not the crime. It is about a muder in MS, the Steve Brown murder.
I want the crime story, not the movie stories. I know those, as I have seen many of the movies.

A moment of truth: abduction of innocence?
I have not read or found ANYWHERE if it’s a true movie
If someone had known? Is based on a true story
and I’m still looking for the other two for you.
I will get back to you shortly. And sorry for the misunderstanding for what exactly you were looking for.

Brandy,
I have done research looking for these movies. I hoped someone with personal knowledge might be able to help.
And the other comments you left about the other website, I know about that site as I have worked with her in the past and I link to her. But thanks anyway. I need the stories behind the ones I posted, as I have the ones you suggested.

I recently watched a couple of movies that were based on true crimes , one of them was A matter of Justice and the other was When he didn’t come home . They both have Patty Duke in them and I have wondered about the true story behind the movies

From what I read? A Matter Of Justice Is NOT based on a true story. Here’s a link to all of Patti Duke’s movies. http://www.fandango.com/pattyduke/filmography/p2648 Keep scrolling down and you’ll find the movie your looking for.

Yes, it is based on a true story. And the names were not changed either. It happened in Hawaii. Here is a link to a blog about it:

My bad BIG C. I guess it didn’t give that info. I was reading it fast and doing other things at the sametime. But I read drama, as for the other one said “Based on a true story” . It’s ok , you got the right info for her. After seeing all the Patti Duke movies I went looking for the Jessica McClure Movie to buy, err couldn’t find it. Amazon was OUT. UGH! lol.
