She said the apartment’s property manager told her that they knew Byars had been killed. But the woman told Eckert the management company had been advised by their legal representative that they should go after the rent and fees.
“I said you might be able to do this, but should you do this?” Eckert said. The early termination fee makes her especially angry. “How was my son supposed to know he was going to be killed?” she asked.

Whoever manages the property where Colin lived should really be ashamed. Where is the compassion and sympathy from these people? Who are they? I mean, I know times are hard but damn. A man was murdered and you want rent money?? Thats heartless. RIP Colin. Hopefully justice will be served. My heart goes out to your family and friends.

The property manager’s name is Debbie Marko. She was listed as MSNBC’s Worst Person in the World for Friday April 24th. She deserves a heck of alot worse than that title. I told her that by the time we (Colin’s friends/family) got done with her, her reputation would be in the toilet. I just didn’t think it would happen this fast. Thank god it did.

Members of the community and residents of Wisconsin there is something we can do to prevent things that happened to Leah Gustafson (read website) and Colin from happening again. Get outraged! Demand that the law for repetitive offenders CHANGES. Write to congressmen/women, write to your local papers, write to your mayor, write to your senators. There is something we can do if we all ban together! Please visit our website to find out more information, we are trying to pass a law that will require all repetitive violent offenders to be registered in a database in Wisconsin (similar to Sex Offenders) so neighborhoods can KNOW these criminals are AMONG US. I think that this landlord should really be ashamed on what he was doing. You may not know how it feels to lose somone. but i know, that it hurts a lot. He was my favorite teacher and an unexpeted death like that hurt many people
