A murderer made you cry? A man who planned the murder of the victim? Just because your wife is cheating on you does not excuse murder nor is it a good reason to murder someone. If you can justify murder, then you are in the wrong place.
I have been watching this trial and I don’t think Eric Mclean planned to kill Sean Powell. He called 911 and tried to get this kid that was harrassing him and messing around with his wife, out of his house seven minutes before the shooting. If he planned to murder him why did he call 911 to get him out of his house?
Also, I am not so sure Sean Powell didn’t grab that gun and cause it to go off. I think Eric loved his wife and didn’t want to lose her and thought he could scare him away with the gun and the situation esculated. Eric is to remorseful for me to think he meant to do any of this. It’s obvious this is not an act.
I think the one that should be on trial is Erin Mclean. She’s the one that caused every bit of this. It’s a shame that she can’t be tried for murdering him because she might as well have been the one to have pulled that trigger herself.
fIRST, mCLEAN AND pOSTON HAVE CLAIMED THE 7 MINUTES. tRY 4MIN. AND 32 SEC.,,THIS IS FACT.He went along with this open marriage, then changed his mind. Powell,as I can see, wasnt aware of this.Mclean also said on countless tv stations, she is a whore, but then said Poston told him to say it. Mclean now says, shes not!!I love the tearless tv interveiws, now, its a flowing river. I dont buy it. Hes had over more than a yr. to plan and make up quite a few stories.Gosh, he even lied about his bond money, pulled a fast one on the courts. More lies. Now, I would add one more comment,, It was such a generous and kind thing that he bestowed upon his wife, by slamming her into a table, and a very generous , act of blowing off a persons face.
note from blog owner
The victim’s name is SEAN POWELL, not Powell. Please have some respect.
My kids went to school with Eric’s and I for one know that, that man wouldn’t hurt a fly! I do not believe he meant for this to happen! You can not tell me that any of this is an act! If he meant/planned to kill this man (he is a man, ya know), then why can’t he even look at the pictures without getting tore up! It wouldn’t bother a cold blooded killer!!
I NEVER ONCE SEEN ERIN WITH THOSE KIDS, NEVER! ERIC DONE EVERYTHING WITH THE KIDS…WALKED THEM TO AND FROM SCHOOL, ALL THE SCHOOL FUNCTIONS, EVERYTHING! HE LOVES HIS KIDS AND WAS DESPERATE TO KEEP THE FAMILY TOGETHER!!!
This man was so soft spoken and gentle, BUT IF YOU BACK A MAN (HUSBAND) IN THE CORNER, HE’S GOING TO COME OUT SWINGIN’! ANY MAN THAT LOVES HIS FAMILY, WOULD!!!
I believe he has remorse, yes. However, I believe in the time from when he hung up for 911, he formed the intent to get Sean out of their lives. Otherwise, why on earth would he get the gun out in the first place. By your statement, he is very codependent then, if he is so desperate to stay with a cheating wife. Sounds like you know him WAY too much. But remember, people said the same things about Ted Bundy. Do you believe he was innocent then too?
And your comment about where is Erin now tells me you have not read anything recent about her. She has moved on. What can she hide now? She is probably somewhere she thinks no one will know her. But that is pretty impossible. She will have to live with the guilty of the life lost because of her. But remember, Eric pulled the trigger, Erin did not, regardless of the fact that is is because of her.
Please read my comment policy also. Do not type in ALL CAPPS. I will remove comments for that reason.
Rarely does LE charge someone like Erin for the murders. Many spouses have caught their spouse in the act and killed the person they were cheating with and the cheating spouse is not charged. There is usually just not the evidence that they wanted the person to be murdered. That is what I suspect here. Morally Erin is very responsible. But legally, I don’t see that there is a case (I could be wrong since I don’t know TN laws)
I am having trouble with my Outlook, but we believe it is the video card causing issues. My husband wanted a new one for his birthday Sat., so he is getting it! I will answer it as soon as I get all of my mail downloaded!
I just saw this case on Today…that lawyer’s comments seem like her legal opinion, not a slam on anyone. And she was right. This blog should not attack anyone with their own opinion, and talking about people’s personal lives and background on a blog just for leaving a comment, that is way out of line. Christie H.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. She based hers on her “experience as a prosecutor”, of which there is no evidence of. She rejoices in the fact that Eric has basically gotten away with murder. I am offended that she said justice was served for all parties. A prosecutor WOULD NOT have said that. 2-4 years in prison is NOT justice. It is amazing to me that people have no empathy for the real victim here, who is SEAN POWELL, and his family.
All that lady did was give her opinion, and now this is my opinion. Your policy says you wlecome opinions different from your own, but then you slam everyone who does not agree with you. Donna, Angela, Amy, the lawyer lady. What right do you have to ask some blogger to prove anything to you. I could say this is my opinion as a janitor, are you going to go seraching for proof I am a janitor. Victim’s rights, you have victimized this lady online, your bloggers called her slimy, shameful and a liar.
Do I not have a right to my own opinion? Apparently not. But, I have removed all of my comments on this post. And I have talked to her off of this blog by the way. I am not slamming anyone, just asking questions. But I guess I am not allowed to do that. I will not respond to any more comments on this post. PERIOD. And if people try, I will close comments as I don’t need this. I am sorry that I care about the VICTIM. Do you even know his name, as you NEVER even expressed sympathy for the VICTIM. Which is not Eric McLean. He is the KILLER. Even if it was manslaughter, Sean Powell is still dead. His parents are still grieving. Please have some respect and empathy for them. They are the ones that deserve it, not Eric McLean (who may be a victim of Erin McLean, but is NOT a victim in this murder).
Christie
Did you even read the posts that Courtney read before Bonnie deleted it? She was not victimized, and I did call her liar (I call it the way it is). Bonnie was attacked first and I will never sit here and read someone attacking her and not say anything.
If Bonnie wants to find out if someone is telling the truth she has that right! What right do you have to question the blog owner? You don’t like it then you don’t have to read her blog but you do need to show her respect
If the kid was showing up at the man’s house and taunting him while having an affair with his wife, he was not an innocent victim in all this. Eric’s lawyer had a very good cause of temporary insanity due to rage because of the taunting. Sure Eric would have been better off to ditch the wife but we all have our snapping point. The kid may as well have worn a bullseye on his chest saying “I’m looking to get myself badly hurt”.
There is a reason for Crime of Passion.. women get away with it all the time.. this poor guy was totally in love with his wife and she put him through hell for at least 3 months before it happened.. its a horrible story and i dont agree with taking anyones life but if anyone should be able to get off with this, he should. she is evil and its too bad that she didtn actually break any laws.. or so she says it didnt start until Sean was out of her class and 18.. of course
We all understand that Sean Powell made the biggest mistake of his life, which cost him ,his life. But, didnt mclean say on the stand, that this 18 yr old, had spent the nite on his sofa, wasnt this just the nite before the killing??? And mclean was in bed, then out of bed, then on the internet, looking up where the little Mrs. was at, then back in bed.!!Id say that the open marriage was indeed ,going strong, the nite before. And as we see, Mclean didnt have any marks to his body, so this lets us know that there wasnt any type of self defense, do the math.Of course he was 18, otherwise, shed be in hot water up to her ,you know what!!! How nice, hes dead and cant speak. But, stated that he only learned of this affair, 2 weeks before. Its in his statement to police. Pretty sick. He called her a drunk, but said on the stand that she stopped drinking, this beats all, but she smoked dope, to lose fat!!! Isnt that what he said. So ,he knew about her dope, and let it go on under the roof, with the kids there. How sad. Great Parents.

Please remember when leaving a comment on my blog that all comments are subject to the blog owners discretion. I do believe in freedom of speech, however, that right is not absolute. Here are the rules:
1 - I will not tolerate hate filled speech or derogatory remarks about a victim. I will remove comments that go against this. I will not remove comments just because they do not match my beliefs, in fact, I welcome them! However, that being said, I will remove those that I find offensive, argumentative just for the sake of starting an argument that does not add to the post, hate-filled speech, etc.
2 - Please remember to not use all CAPS or capitalize the beginning letter of every single word or every other word, or use IM/text abbreviations (except like LOL). Please have respect for other readers and type words out. Not everyone is into that and it is inappropriate here.
3 - Your comments must be all in English.
4 - I will also not allow Anonymous comments.
5 - ALL COMMENTS LEFT BY COMMENTORS ARE THEIR OWN AND THEIR OPINIONS. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE FACTS. NOR IS THE BLOG OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYONE'S OPINIONS OR FEELINGS. STATEMENTS MADE AS COMMENTS ARE OPINIONS, GIVEN FREELY BY THE COMMENTORS.
