all i have to say is KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE AT ALL TIMES …… no excuse on why they didnt know PAY ATTENTION ….. if i would of been the mayor or local authorities family members meaning dad yo azz would be also in jail

No excuse? When you were a kid did you ever sneak out? Everyone I know did. And I never got caught either. If this child was out every night at all hours, it would be different. But kids are kids, and sometimes these things do happen.

My heart goes out to this family. I am not a mother myself and I could only imagine the thought of not only losing your child, but in this manner. I just hope and pray that they find and prosecute who ever did this to Mya. The kids are our future and I hope this horrible crime can show parents that anything can happen and it makes them more aware of where their kids are. Again, my prayers and sorrow go out to the Lyons family.

First to David. You are making assumption about the father. The media is not telling you all because the police is not giving them the total story. I in no way blame the father. My heart goes out to him. He has suffured a horrible lost and killer is still on the street. I had a niece staying with me and I had to work early morning. though she did not leave the house she would sneak her friend into her bedroom window I later found out. what would you have a parent do. sit at the door of their children’s bedroom door all night. Let find the person that did this don’t put blame on the ones who did not. You are speaking in hindsight. Mya could not have been saved. this event was going to happened. Her mom cannot blame herself. it is what it is. We need to focus on the facts. There is a killer on the loose who we need to find and do justice too………

Im very sorry for your lost im Sharkelia Taylor mother the little 15 teen year old girl that was killed on 69th Dorchester on memorial DAY visit my mother i no just how you feel the police has not found my daughter killer either i will keep you all in my prayers cause we all need it my daughter been died sense 5-26-2008 by a drive by shooting god please help us all lord

omg mya is so pretty i dont have any children but i know what it fells like to loose someone close to u and my heart and soul go’s out to this family we cant control what people do even though crime is getting worse only thing we can do is keep are family close to u

The timeline and facts speak for themselfs,There was more family than”dad” at home.She left nieghbors at 11 and was shortly put to bed? Did she take a bath? was she tucked in?she had to have atleast spent 25 minutes or so getting ready for bed..Then dad found her shortly after 12? 30 minutes to be abducted,asaulted,beat,then found dead with no screams heard?Why didnt the uncle who rode to hp with him call 911? why didnt the nieghbor who heard him scream call 911?why not CALL 911 IMMIDENTLY SO THEY COULD START LIFE SAVING ACTIONS BEFORE THEY TRANSPORT HER?

My heart goes out to this beautiful little girl and her family. I am a mom of three and i can only imagine what Erica and Richard are going through, I can not rest until this person who did this is put away. i have an eight year-old and he loves being a kid. What kid at that age would disobey their parents? Mya knew her killer and that person killed her because she would have told someone. U R in my prayers always. R.I.P mya lyons and all the babies(0-??) that were killed this year and other years. May GOD keep

I agree with you keshia…I believe Mya knew her killer and would have told that’s why she was murdered but there seem to be alot of pieces missing to this story. I will be so glad when they find out who did this so they can get the punishment they deserve. Rest in peace sweet little Mya Lyons.

I am sorry to say but I have personally been around this family and I have seen the father and mother..Now I am not one to say how a person should react..However what the father as he is all in the media.Fake tears and all..I also went to the fumeral and seen the emotionless non tears….I think he knows more then he is letting out….

This is sad! I’m glad I left chicago when I was 20, so my kids can have a better life than me..
