I have been praying for Brooke’s return every since I saw her on Nancy Grace DAYS ago. This is heartbreaking. From the video of her walking in the store with her so-called step-dad with her arms folded across her chest, to this end result. What I don’t understand is why she was allowed to hang out with a sex-offender?? I am completely throw about them finding her body. I wanted so much for little Miss Brooke to be alive. God rest her beautiful soul, and comfort her family. And make her murderer and his accomplices pay dearly. I’m feeling your pain right now Lavonna. I am heartbroken.

I’m a former detective and the new missing/unidentified persons blogger at officer.com. Good for you for spotlighting missing persons this month. It’s a problem that law enforcement cannot solve alone. Instead, it takes lots of eyes — in fact many cases are resolved because the public is staying informed and paying attention.
This particular case is truly heartbreaking.

I am a police officer and have been for a while. I had the privilege to work in the State of Vermont and know how liberal the laws are. This case is an especially disturbing to me because it could have been prevented. I hope that great politicians of Vermont will “WAKE UP” and do something about Vermont’s very relaxed laws when it come to animals such as Michael Jacques, remember he is and always will be a “sex offenders.” I have a hard time believing that Jacques was supervised at all. It would be nice to see a detailed copy of his so called case file, I wonder how often he was checked on.

The former stepfather of a 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped and slain in Vermont last year has pleaded guilty to transportation of child pornography.
The plea by Raymond Gagnon was accepted by U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez in San Antonio on Monday. Gagnon faces from five to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.
Gagnon had married Brooke’s mother, Cassandra, in 2000, after they moved from Vermont to Alabama. The couple separated in 2004, and Brooke, her sister and mother returned to Vermont. Raymond and Cassandra Gagnon divorced in 2006.
