So much has been said about this case, but to me, the worst came from a parent of an accused:
Eighteen-year-old Stephen Schumaker’s father turned his anger to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, who decided to release the video and is now under a gag order by the court.
“Grady Judd, our great sheriff, he made a mountain out of a molehill with all these trumped up charges for these kids,” he said.
This parent is in denial of what happened to the victim. He probably believes she deserved the permanent, lifelong damages that happened to her. But if his child was hurt this way, boy would it be a different story! And now, Dr. Phil has thrown himself into this. It will only get worse from here.

These teen-agers who obviously planned and beat a defenseless teen-ager – who subsequently suffered physical and pyschological injuries has to be punished as adults. The parents should be ashamed and punished as well for the barbaric and unruly behaviors of these obviously very troubled, arrogant and very evil people. The internet host websites should be responsible to ban/ censor,. bring down any videos that depict crimes, violence.

The question I seem to have is why in the world would the Dr. Phil show post bond for anyone? Even if it was a story? What about the victim? I truly think the video is horrible to watch and I feel pretty sorry for the girl who got beat up..

Why would “dr” phil show post bond for dog Mercades Nichols just to get her on their show? Now, after the public and the media have backlashed at the “dr” phil show for bonding one of these pigs out of jail, they have decided not to do the show. Well…..that’s great, but now, thanks to them, the pig, Mercades Nichols is loose on the street when she could have been still locked up in her cage where she belongs. Now she’s free to plan some other kind of monsterous act. Good going “dr” phil, you idiot. As for the Florida 8 teen attackers….I hope they ALL get at least 40 years since they will only actually serve 60 % of that. They make me sick. And what I’ve seen of their parents behavior is disgusting. Trash all the way around.

You have got to be kidding me! As if Sheriff Grady didn’t have enough to deal with when it came to Mark Lundsford, now this. This girl needs to sit her ass in jail with all the others. Why her? Britney isn’t doing it for the “Dr.” anymore? Nothing good going on in Hollywood that he has to come to Polk County and bail out this abuser? I agree…it’s only going to go down hill from here.

These parents should actually be next in line at the arraignment to take responsibility for the actions of their children.To be so ignorant is saddening. Actually, I’m sure the victim’s attorney has pondered the thought of civil liability for these parents. Especially the ones who think their actions were appropriate.

I went and looked at this little dirtbag’s My Space profile a few days ago. She did not have it set to private. so anyone can go and look at it including her own mother. The song that immediately began playing was incredibly vile. A song by a woman who calles herself Riskay. I probably did not spell it the way she spells it. The songs title was, “Smell your _ick” (rhymes with stick). Euu.
Dr. Phil is moving into Jerry Springer territory. I rarely watch him, but I won’t be watching him EVER again.

Phil McGraw is about as useful as Laura Schlesinger. I’m sure he sent his guy but when it wasn’t done quietly, he blamed the guy for going beyond company policy. The punishment? A talking to. Oh, sure, Phil. You patted the guy on the back and wished him better luck next time.
Old man Schumaker needs a good kick in the arse, too. I suppose he thinks the sheriff beat up the cheerleader and then put those kids in the house. Right. He needs to accept that his son was involved. A wet slimey hairball for him.

Are you kidding me! No wonder so many good people take legal rights into their own hands. Our legal society and laws are a joke! Those little evil rejects teens and their selfish, non-loving, and joke of humans should all become someone’s girlfiends and boyfriends behind bars for the rest of their lives. For once, I won’t mind my tax dollars feeding and housing their worthless bodies behind bars, and as for Dr. Phil, what a embarrasment! He paid 30K to free Mercedes “Evil” Nichols, when he could have given that to the Lindsey family to put their beating and pre-meditated murder victum (in my opinion, and the rest of the worlds opinion) through college, that those waste of skin teens, stole from her. It was a very sad day witnessing a group of teens beat up a single helpless girl on tv and to think that another tv show was bold enough to bail the ring leader out of jail for monetary gain was even more repulsive. I know why Stevens dad said what he did… It’s because those boys weren’t involved, they have no evidence at all showing that they were.. All 6 girls have said that those boys knew nothing about it. Grady Judd released the video on national television BEFORE they talked to a SINGLE witness, actually they didn’t speak to ANY witnesses until 9 days later. Yeah there were neighbors around who heard the noise, and those neighbors seen Zach, and Steven at Zachs house. (which was next door!!) So What I want to know is why Grady Judd released this video, and pretty much stated that everyone was guilty before he even had facts!!! And if you people have not seen a fight before where the hell have you been living? It’s a fight- now there are people making death threats OVER A FIGHT! Where the hell is the logic in that???? How can anyone justify that? Some people need to GET A LIFE!!

The charges were dropped against the boys and Cara. From the start, law enforcement lied. Anyone who actually examined the released evidence knew this.
People encouraging violence against these kids should be ashamed, you can get them severely or permanently injured. You’re no better than Cara Murphy who failed to stop the beating, in fact you’re worse, you’re like the camera girl (NOT Cara Murphy) who cheered the beating.
Trying 14 and 15 year-old girls “as adults” for *misdemeanor* battery is simply child abuse and the reasons are purely political, the sheriff is running for re-election in the fall.
There are still many more lies and a lot of misinformation about this case out there. The girls do deserve a fair punishment for their misdemeanor battery, but they do not deserve a deluge of death threats, massive encouragement of violence against them on the Internet (conveniently ignored by the media and bloggers), biased judicial system (the bail amounts were ludicrously high if you know *anything* about Florida bail amounts in similar cases), and being shut silent by the judge while law enforcement saturates the media with lies about them.
Those girls went way too far trying to get back for whatever wrong, real or imagined, the victim did to them. Now powerful people are going way too far in exploiting this for their own gain. It’s poetic justice but it is NOT justice. And the difference is those people are adults and they are trying to outright destroy the children’s lives. And the entire world cheers. Hypocrisy is alive and well.

Didacticus – Your “name” tells me you think you are here to instruct. I don’t think you’re qualified. These kids, and their parents, need to suffer the consequences of their actions. A one- on -one fight is one thing; this was a planned assault by multiple parties on one individual. I would be so ashamed if one of my three children were ever involved in such an unfair and vicious assault. And the length of time the fight went on is very significant. It doesn’t matter what the girl did to to tick them off. A real parent, a good parent, would stand by her child’s side but make them stand up to what they did and to the punishment they get. That is what would serve the guilty kids’ best interest–not getting away with it or having it played down. It was horrible. It was very wrong.It is not over- blown. As a society we do not and can not tolerate the way they ganged up on her. And yes, they need to be made an example of in the interst of preventing recurrences.

Angela, of course the guilty should face the consequences for their actions.
And so should law enforcement officials who lied and misinformed and endangered children and than refused to protect them.
The kids WILL face consequences, most likely far more severe than any kids guilty of similar offenses — and there are thousands such kids every year.
Law enforcement, on the other hand, will get away with their intentional lies and with their willful endangerment of children.
And none of this prevented recurrences, just the opposite — the sheriff legitimized exploitation of violence among children by TV networks for profit. Now all TV stations are like YouTube, except that they show kids getting beaten and humiliated deliberately at every opportunity because people like to watch it and it’s good for ratings. Now every girl who wants “fame” knows that TV networks will gladly oblige if she attacks some poor kid on camera.
