In convicting Mr. Rodriguez, 29, of first-degree manslaughter, the jury determined that Mr. Rodriguez had caused Nixzmary’s death by recklessly engaging in conduct that created a grave risk of serious physical injury. To find him guilty of second-degree murder, the jury would have had to determine that he acted with “depraved indifference to human life.”

OK, so “they” say, ‘hurt people hurt people’ Rodrigue
must have had some big, nasty, hurt in his life to continue this treatment of his daughter for so long a period of time. And how sad that the child’s mother stood by and watched, what was she thinking? The poor woman must have wanted to hold onto this man – maybe she was abandend by her father or her first husband. So the fear that drove this situation paints a picture of not only a couple with no parenting skills but a man and a woman who live in constant fear of loosing control of each other as well as the situation. Trying to control our lives without a close relationship with a Higher Power; it’s crazy. I feel for all of the people in this story – inmates are not understanding of child murderes, they are in for a rough time in prison. Sad

What is sad is that a little girl died who weighed 36 lbs from being starved and beaten on. He gets 25 years for that? Well, isn’t’ that just real sweet.. We can starve and beat our kids and only get a few year.
I sure hope everyone who was part of giving him manslaughter instead of murder sleeps good at night.

I do not have an ounch of pity for this monster, i hope he doesn’t survive in jail. I want him to feel the pain and fear that he made Nixmary feel.
Lavonna, i agree with you, i think that when it hits them, that they made a terrible mistake the sleepless nights will happen.

I hope her stepfather rotts in hell for what he did to that poor little innocent child of god. He deserves the death peanilty. Or maybe he should die like she did. Her mother is just as rotten and guilty as he is . May NIXMARY BROWN REST IN PEACE and gets the justice she deserves.

It’s hard to imagine that such evil is in the world, that a person could actually think up of such monstrous things to inflict on another human being day after day especially a defenseless child. Mr. Rodriguez is not a man he is a coward who has not gotten away with anything. He as well as his wife, will come face to face with a Judge that knows all the details and heard every word and from Him they cannot hide.

My very first jury duty was today and I was called into a room and sworn and seated. ADA and defense attorneys were presented and then the list of witnesses read. Then the charges were read and all the time I am thinking that this is not real, that the name of the defendant sounds familiar , that the crimes she is accused of are monstrous
sure enough the defendant is the mother of Nixzmary Brown- sitting there, looking very plump and well
I had a problem with being on that case so I told them right away that in my mind she is guilty-directly or indirectly does not matter-she is guilty of letting a man abuse her child
no surprise that defense attorney kicked me out of the room, if he did not I might have jumped that low life b**ch right there and then
