    How horrible that a mother loses her baby because some creep wanted a car. This is very, very sad. I see it’s time to start packing heat ladies. You just don’t know who or what you may run into these days. RIP. I am praying for her family.

    Melissa, I would start by listening to the people who actually have a plan – instead of the people who lament that “there’s not much we can do about it”.
    Specifically we could begin by identifying these culprits as habitual criminals, initiate deportation proceedings to the country of their choice (Mexico or Africa), then we would obviously have to bolster our borders to make them tougher to breach.
    Think about it, we can secure the border between Iraq & Iran,we have a bullet proof border with North & south Korea, Israeli’s secure the border w/Lebanon, why not here?.
    As long as we remain convinced that there are no alternatives, we are doomed to live with this type of savagery on a daily basis.
    Think about it, most of these crimes are committed by the same small numbers of criminals.
    It wouldn’t take too long before aspiring criminals got the word that they are gone for good if they screw up –
    limited repurcussions, limited results.
    Lavonna, please re-read the statement – I did not imply that she was on welfare, I implied that these crooks are the offspring of welfare mothers.

    Why can’t you just say that you are sorry for the family and maybe try to pray (or meditate) instead of smarting off about us telling the family that we are sorry for the loss or that we will pray for them?

    Shayne what do you know about prayer? Prayer is powerful no matter what you said. I would never give my car up without a fight for one reason most of the time I lock my doors as soon as I get in and like Shaucey said “pack the heat” and you will never have to give it up..

    You are an idiot! I am a 4.0 third year law school student, a single mother, and a “welfare mother” myself. I am also an “offspring of welfare mother.” My mother, a veteran who fought to protect the freedom of stupid people like you, was also on assistance while I was a child. She and I both elected to be on assistance so we could be with our children and raise our children ourselves. In both situations, the men who are suppose to be equally responsible for the children skipped out. You needed to stop pointing the finger at socioeconomic and ethnic groups and instead take a damn hard look in the mirror and attempt to figure out what made you the big mouthed dumb ass that you are. Not everyone who lacks financial resources resorts to crime, violent or not. Yes, the person who did this is a monster – does it really matter what color skin they have, how much money they have, how much money their parent(s) had, or where they are from? No it does not. So, go take your foot out of your mouth and get on your knees and pray for that family, that mama, and especially for that baby boy. And while you are at it, ask God to help you be more sensitive, less ignorant, certainly less vocal about your narrow minded opinions. Besides, us “welfare mothers” and our children just might come into a some money one day, but without the help of God, you will most likely always be stupid and ignorant.

    First, never once did I mention race in my response – go ahead look again I’ll wait for you.
    Ok, now that you have re-read my statement you’ll realize that I only mentioned that these habitual criminals should be deported to Africa or Mexico.
    You are the one who is fixated on race by instantly jumping to conclusions – moron!.
    Second, I’m not that surprised that the “men” in your life failed to live up to their responsibility, however, I am surprised that you are a law student with your level of comprehension – but then again, standards are being undermined daily.
    Third, I am also a veteran but I question how on earth your mother “fought for our freedoms” unless she was involved in the revolutionary war back in the 18th century!.
    Tell me, which foreign country was your mother shipped off to to “fight to protect my freedoms”? – this I can’t wait to read.

    I just wanted to say how awful this is for the poor Mother and to ask the perpetrator, how anything could ever justify doing this to a child? You’ll get your payback someday – it says so in every religion of the world – so just keep waiting.

    This broke my heart when I saw it on our local news in Pennsylvania. I was made ANGRIER by the response tho of the 911 operator!!!!!!! They played the tape and one response from the operator was “Huh?” and the other time she said something like “shot who?”—to me at least it was totally out of place when they could have been sending help this person sounded totally drugged out when the mother’s friend called for help! I cannot imagine the pain this family and friends are enduring and the shooting of this innocent child is haunting to say the least!
