Either someone higher up in ranks did something to her, or she knew something she wasn’t supposed to know, or she saw something she wasn’t supposed to see.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 10) – A pregnant Marine who vanished last month before she was to testify in a military probe claimed “a senior officer … had raped her and that the investigation had gone sour,” according to new court documents.
The woman made the allegation to her stepmother, who also told investigators looking for the 20-year-old lance corporal that her stepdaughter was bipolar and had a history of compulsive lying, the documents filed this week state.

So, step-mom said she was bi-polar and a compulsive liar. Hhhmmmmm. Strange.
Why would she say that? Comments like that lead me to believe she may have been paid off. Am I missing something here? If it’s the same woman I saw on Nancy Grace, she didn’t really seem too upset. (could be shock) But if she’s making comments like that, it’s all too strange for me. I need to think about this more.

I read that on the AOL newpage. I missed the Nancy Grace episode of it but I did see the blonde lady talking about her but she just talked about a minute. No crying or upset so I assumed that was a neighbor or someone, that was on Good Morning America yesterday morning. I was getting ready to leave for work and didn’t get a chance to see much .
Haven’t heard anything today but I hope she is found safe and very soon..

I don’t know about this case. Something is not sitting right with the family.
If it were my step-daughter missing, I’m not going to go and tell the world press that she is a compulsive liar and bi-polar. That is just inappropiate, in my opinion. They don’t know if this young lady is dead, half-dead, alive but suffering somewhere. And they tell the press she’s a compulsive liar???

According to AOL news, she was due to tesitfy and the stepmother said the girl claimed to be raped (sounded like the step mom didn’t believe that).
That was said when she called her bi-polar and a liar. Maybe step-mom doesn’t want her to be found. Not sure what it is but something isn’t right about it.
It is very strange, but the truth will come out one day and I hope that is soon.

Now they are saying she is dead and buried but yet they don’t have a body.. So how do they have this info? Are they for sure? I pray to God it is a mistake and she and the baby are safe.

I don’t think they would say something like that if they didn’t know for sure. They obviously have something they are not letting people know about yet. It’s very sad, but you’re here everyday, you know what kind of world we live in.

I think it is a sick world we are living in and we need to weed out the bad. I truly don’t understand why they tell only that much. Why not wait until they find the body and then make an announcement.

I do agree with you. I just think they must have sure evidence that tells them enough to know for sure. At least I would like to think they wouldn’t do that otherwise.
By the way, I also would like to believe that she and her baby are safe, but she would be due to deliver by now and if they were ok we probably would know. Don’t you think?

I read the update and Fox stated that a witness came forward to tell them of her body.
I read somewhere that she was due Febuary and then another place said January. The way it looks the baby never had a chance. Sad day

It disgusts me also that some member of Maria’s family (a wicked stepmother/mother?) was so low and pathetic as to make comments suggesting that Maria was a pathological liar and bi-polar. Such remarks just seem so against Maria, that I wonder if they were made possibly with the intent of jeopardizing the investigation into the rape as well as the search for Maria. Not only was Maria was treated horribly in the aftermath of her reporting the rape (one article says a stranger punched her in the face, somebody keyed her car), but her own family turned on her with these hateful statements.
I hope for her and her child to rest in peace after all the suffering that they had to endure. I also pray for justice for her and her baby.

Suspect left a letter to his wife stating ” she slit her own throat all I did was burie her” later Deputy sherffifs found a fire pit in the back yard of the suspect’s house which had human remains which will more then likely belong for Maria.

I do agree with you on this. I certainly hope that those statements, which were actually said to investigators, was taken out of context. I understand that they were said because that they were not sure if she left on her own, but I still do not believe that they should have been released at all. I noticed that nothing was said whether the stepmother believed Maria about the rape charges, but my opinion is that she did not believe her. Well, today they are saying that the guy who she was accusing is the father of her baby. DNA will prove that.
I refuse to think of her that way. I will think of her as a beautiful young woman with the world ahead of her. She had such a beautiful smile and looked so friendly. What a huge loss for this world.

I know the Military I have been married to two Militarymen my son is in the Marine corps stationed in Camp LeJeune 2nd Marine Division.He says they all a crooked down their specialy the big wigs he also got treatned about his career etc.also over heard them how they gonna set him up to get him court martialed for something he didn’t do just to get him out the Corps.Because they got that policy Don’t aks don’t tell if you do you are history.And that stepmom of Lauterbach is so full of shit if the girl has been Bi-polar she would have never made it thrue the Medical exam specilay the mentalpart they ask you if you take medication etc if you do they will not accept you into the corps or any military service.If you all ask me the whole thing stinks to high heaven and I hope they will find out a lot more things about Camp Lejeune and get rid of all the Chain of Command.

I am new here but I really want to make a comment on this whole thing about her,yes I may not have all the facts but this is what I know she says she was raped by her superior she was pregnant and she died and who I am sure killed her was her superior,but this is were I am confused why does it matter if she is bi polar or liar, what does it matter if she wasnt really raped, what should matter is her being a woman, soon to be a mother who was killed. I believe the military covered this whole thing up, and how it is ironic how now all the little things about her are coming up, in the end it wont change how she died, how she felt before she took her last breathe. Also think of this, how would you feel to be raped and have to be in the same place as the person who raped you and may even fathered your child, knowing everyday you are on that base, facing his friends or even him, I can only think of how she must of felt, all of the stuff she would of went through, ofcourse she retracted her story, I would of, knowing he was a superior.
and as for her mother, how can she sleep at night, knowing how she died, knowing all of it, what was she thinking by saying those things about her daughter.
also how can she just not show up for work being in the military for 5 days or even 2, my husband is military and if you dont show up, heck they will call your neighbors if needed to find ya, you just dont show up for work, maybe marines are different then navy I dont know?
not that I find any of your postings bad but I just think of her and her child and it is so very sad.
I cant wait for them to find him, hoping he isnt a chicken and takes the easy way out..

I have a totally different take on this whole thing than what the media is telling America. This guys wife IS NOT the “Do-good citizen” that Ed Brown says she is. She DID have something to do with this. How, after the blood bath they describe, the burning and burial of this woman, did the wife NOT know?! Why did she give her “murderer husband” a 5 HOUR head start before alerting police?!? Why is it that the wife of a murderer feels she’s “in no danger” and refuses protective guards after she turns her husband in to police for murder?!?! Wouldn’t you be scared of him? Wouldn’t you have run to the police within minutes of him leaving to rat him out? Wouldn’t you have noticed that all of the sudden your husband randomly decides to paint the house? Would that not seem strange to you? Was there not a smell that came along with burning of flesh?? It doesn’t add up. Maybe she killed Maria and her husband took the blame since he was headed to the brig for rape anyway. At least that way their 2 year old son wouldn’t go to foster care… if mommy was never suspected….

Alot of people put military personnel in such high regards.
Quite frankly, alot of these a**holes are as sick as some of these serial killers. They just know how to hide it well. The military does a great job of covering their asses. (and their personnel)
Seems to me like the military would rather have a possible murderer enlisted, than say, a homosexual. Insane!
I rather be around gay people ANY DAY than be around a killer. The military has so many deep, dark secrets that we will never know about.

Well it isn’t a secret the Marine Corps don’t like Women in the Corps.They just want an all man Corps also if you black its better you join the Army then the Marine Corps because the Navy and the Marines are still Racist when it comes to sex and race.So on one site its not surprising that this soon or later would happen I just hope they catch that S*& of a B&^$% and hang him high because the whole thing is Fishy from the get go.

I think if the legal team on the behalf of the Military had handle the incident concerning the rape charges the sweet girl would still be alive today. It is very sad. Her life was not surpose to end that way and maybe his was not surpose to end this way either. I think the situation was mishandle in the begining. Be time it was turn over to law enforcement it was already a mess. Law enforcement has been doing a great job in my opinion concerning what they have to work with.
