Now that interracial dating and marraige is not uncommon, more and more spousal abuse cases involve interracial couples. It appears that the Megan Williams case is turning out to be a case of domestic violence rather than a hate crime.
Bobby R. Brewster, one of six arrested in the case, had a relationship with the victin, He was charged in July with domestic battery and assault after a dispute between them. It appears that this is the motivation for the subsequent attack on Williams. All too often, husbands and boyfriends arrested for battering their spouses or girl friends often retaliate with the victims call the police.
There are other cases of interracial violence that are more horrific but which have drawn less attention than the Megan Williams case.
Last January, two Knoxville Tennessee, college students, Channon Christian 21, set and her boyfriend Chris Newsom 23 were carjacked by two black males. They forced Christian and Newsom to accompany them back to their home, where they then enlisted the help of two others, including a black female. They sodomize Chris Newsom in front of Channon before they castrated him and shot him in the head. They wrapped his body in bedding and set it afire, then discarded the bodyt along some railroad tracks,
The three males, with the assistance of the female, subjectws Channon to a brutal and continuous series of rapes, including sodomy, over a period of two days, The men urinated on her, and poured cleaning chemicals into her mouth and down her throat in an effort to destroy the physical evidence they had left behind. They then cut off her breasts, dismembered her body and threw it in a trash can at the residence.
On September 21, 2007, to cite another case, a 12-year old white girl named Emily Haddock was home sick from school. Four black males broke into her home and shot her in the head numerous times. Her body was found later that same day by her grandfather. Initially the police described the murder scene as “brutal,” but didn’t elaborate. Almost immediately a shroud enveloped the case and any further details have been carefully suppressed

All of these stories just make me sick to my stomach!!! It does not matter what color a person is, the crime is what matters, and EVERYONE that has done these horrific things to people need to be put under the jail! I just could’nt imagine anything like this happening to someone that I love, it just sickens me to death. Well, black, white, purple, red, or green let em all rot in hell!

My heart goes out to Megan and her family. What happened to her was horrific and I hope and pray that her family gets the justice that she deserves. Whether megan new bobby brewster or not doesn’t have any bearing on the fact that him and the other 5 individuals need to be put to death. Anybody who does acts of violence against another (such as this/these mentioned) no matter what color they are should be prosecuted and put to death.

The media RARELY reports the racial aspect of crime when it is minority on white, yet that happens MUCH more than White on minority. Even RARER is hate crime law ever applied in these situation.
Hate crime laws are discriminatory.Murder is Murder, Assault is assault. Are some victims more protected than others??
Even if you believe in hate crime laws, you can’t honestly say they are applied equally to racists “of color”?

I truly feel sadened for ALL victims in all of the aforementioned cases, but what gets me is the aspect of HATE crime that people seldom comment on and that is gender. With the exception of the Knoxville case all the crimes mentioned in the comments section of this particular article were committed solely against women. Why is there not more coverage on the increasing numbers of violent acts toward women. Women in general regardless of race are the ever growing statistical victims of violent acts in this society, this nation, this world! And NO ONE seems to be addressing that. Rape, torture and murder seems to be the crime of choice for many men that decided to commit these horrific acts against women, and those statistics are ones that transcend color, culture, and ethnicity. This type of violence against women period should be considered hate crimes. I don’t have children but would love to someday, but I often second guess that decision because I think “What kind of life would I be bringing my future daughters into?” A world where they are expendable second class citizens, that can be maimed, brutally violated and tossed aside and no one will care?”
This is a horrible state that we have been moving toward for many many generations. We have to start teaching our young women to respect and protect themselves and more importantly our young men to respect and protect our daughters, sisters, mothers, aunties, nieces grandmothers…our women!
